BY REGISTRY EDITING
1. Press the Window key + R. This opens the Run command.
2. After that you can type “regedit”and then press enter
3. Go to “Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ CURRENT_CONTROL_SET\SERVICES”.
4. CLICK on “USBSTOR”. This folder controls USB storage on your computer.
5. Open the registry key labeled “Start.”
6. Change the data value of the “Start” registry key from “3” to “4”. This disables your computer’s USB ports
7. Close Windows Registry.Going forward, your computer will no longer detect USB storage.
8. Repeat steps “1” through “7” and change “4” to “3” to enable your computer’s USB ports.
HOW WE CAN DISABLE/ENABLE USB PORT BY DEVICE MANAGER
1. Press the Window key + R. This open the Run command
2. After that you can type “devmgmt.msc” and then press enter. This opens DEVICE MANAGER
3. CLICK on “UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS”.
4.After that you can disable or enable the USB port.
5. Repeat steps “1” through “4” and change to enable your computer’s USB ports.
HOW WE CAN DISABLE/ENABLE USB PORT BY BIOS
1. Enter the BIOS setup.
2. Once in the BIOS setup, check the menus for an option to enable or disable the on board USB ports.
3. Make sure all USB options and Legacy USB Support options are disabled or off.
4. Save and Exit the BIOS after making the changes. Typically, the F10 key is used to save and exit.
5. After the computer has rebooted, check the USB ports to make sure they have been disabled.
Uninstall USB Mass Storage Drivers
As when you plug-in your USB drive, Windows will check for drivers, if not found Windows will prompt you to install the driver. This would definitely unlock the Pen drive.
HOW WE CAN DISABLE/ENABLE USB PORT BY GROUP POLICY
1. Press the Window key + R. This open the Run command
2. After that you can type “gpedit.msc” and then press enter. This opens GROUP POLICY
3. Then your group policy window will open.
4. Left side of window SEARCH Administrative Templates and double click on it.
5. Then click on System
6. Next you will see Removable Storage Access just click on it
7. See the All Removable Storage Access: Deny All Access
8. Double click on it and select the option Enable and click on OK button
